Although we like to think that no race is as important as the next, throughout the course of the tour, W.R.E. competes at, attends, or hosts some pretty special events- many that have become yearly traditions for our family, fans, and friends. Some have taken place over others these past few years, but most are still continual staples on every WRE Tour:
WKA DAYTONA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - We celebrate the Christmas holiday at the beach then kick off the racing season over at the speedway for the running of the World Karting Association's World Championship Road Racing Series event at Daytona International Speedway. This event has always been special in Jeff's heart, since his first laps on the infamous speedway in 1992. Years later, the trip has turned into a family tradition and one of our favorite getaway racing trips. Lifes a beach during the holiday season!
DAYTONA PARTY - W.R.E.'s World Headquarters comes alive every February with Nascar devotees who attend this annual event over at our Rettler Farms locale as we get a little crazy and sometimes a little tipsy. There is always a great supply of frosty beverages and too much fried food to even fathom! We fill the shop and house with people and party it up Daytona style with lots of fun, banter, and usually a few surprises during the day.
KNOXVILLE NATIONALS - Each year we pack up the hauler and head to the absolute most important sprint car race of the year- The Knoxville Nationals, held at the prestigious 1/2 mile track on the Marion County Fairgrounds. We've endured heat waves, tornados, down pours, and cold tempatures... all in one week! It's the toughest and most bad-ass sprint car racing of the year.
COOKOUT & CAMPOUT WEEKEND - The Labor Day Weekend Tradition! This event is the longest running annual W.R.E. event and each year it gets better. The fun kicks off Saturday of labor Day Weekend at Angell Park Speedway for some pre-race cocktails and barbeques. We'll then take in the nights Firemens Nationals Midget races. On Sunday we head to a secret and sometimes pulled-from-the-hat racing destination. It's a fun weekend of eating lots of food, watching some great racing, and enjoying the company of great friends.
KAMPING WITH THE KOENIG'S - This is the newest addition to our annual traditions. Everyone is welcome to join us for a weekend of cocktails, barbeques, campfires and kart racing action at Badger Raceway. We'll be "Kamping with the Koenig's" the final points weekend of the season. Action kicks off Friday night.
